Selin Alara Ornek

I am 15 years old, and I am currently a student in the 10th grade at Irmak High School, Istanbul. I am currently participating AI4ALL Change Maker Scholar Program and a young member of the New York Academy of Science.

I started to learn to code when I was 9 years old and started building robots when I was 10.

I speak English, Turkish and French. I am learning C++, Python and Java through online courses and whilst building my projects. When I get the chance, I really enjoy attending events, talking about my projects, and receiving feedback from all different people.

I have 6 robots; ic4u, ic4u2, BB4All, Hashmet the Android, DO, and Kimbelina.

My motivation is to be able to encourage and show other kids especially girls that technology is fun and to get all young people interested in using technology for good.

My Goals:

  • I aim to study robotics,  artificial intteligence(AI), and machine learning(ML) at MIT or Stanford University. 
  • To build a humanoid for social benefit and that will also be able to assist in space research.
